A Printed Performance

So as some of you may know from reading my very first blog post, I love vintage things, especially finds from my mother's closet. Today, I went for a more ladylike look whilst mixing prints. So what I'm wearing here: Vintage Floral Biker Skirt, Sleeveless polka-dot bow print collared shirt, and Suede Ankle Boots.
I love the length of this biker skirt. It's long enough so it's modest, yet it's short enough so that there's still that young-girl air about it. Also, the collared shirt is actually a crop top, but the skirt comes around the waist so that it cinches it all together. Also, the print on the shirt is super adorable. It reminds me of my childhood. :)

Ahhh. I just love vintage shots. Everything just feels so dreamy. It's all about the lighting too. My favorite part of this outfit are actually my ankle boots. I got them last year from Taiwan for a really nice price. The color is a pink-orange and the fit is just wonderful. They basically complement any outfit, whether I be wearing a dress or jeans.

I think this fall it would be a great idea to invest in a nice pair of ankle boots. They seem to be popping up everywhere. But the best thing to do is find a unique pair. Have a whimsical day!

Alice My Sweet

Since childhood, my favorite fairy tale did not involve any princesses or princes. My favorite story was Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Charles Lutwidge Dodgeson, also known as, Lewis Carroll. It is a story full of whimsy and wonder with just the right amount of adventure. In this outfit, I tried to capture some of that. In these pictures: Strapless Blue Ruffle Dress, White Thin Belt, Khaki Jacket, Brown Booties, Eiffel Tower Necklace. Also shown: Various Dessert Lip glosses

In this fist picture, Alice's grey cat, Dinah joins me. ;) The Eiffel Tower Necklace is super cute and small. It's actually one of the things my sister got me for my birthday! These booties I'm wearing are also really comfortable and perfect to go on an adventure with.
Here are a few more shots. The dessert lip glosses are by Naughty but Nice and are great gifts to give. The chocolate ones were the ones I gave my sister for her birthday. Also, you will notice that I am wearing a tiara in some pictures. I feel like it just adds to the whimsy nature of these pictures. Have an awesome day! :)

P.S. If you haven't figured it out yet, whimsy is one of my favorite words.

And She Was Drowning In Her Sea of Blue.

Today has been one of the most whimsical Sundays in a while...which is weird because usually Sundays before school starts again are filled with anticipation and anxiety. But right now...I feel like I'm almost drowning in the quiescence in my heart. I also took a two hour nap right before I shot this...so of course I was feeling artsy and whimsy. That's usually what happens after naps ;). I am only wearing one thing in this shot. Very unadorned and raw. It's a printed sundress.
I really love the print on this dress...I would even go as far to say that it's psychedelic.

Anyways, I hope your Sunday is as whimsical and peaceful as mine! :)

Wonderful.

Today was the very FIRST day of school! WHOO. yeah. I survived. For my first day of school outfit, I DIDN'T go for the fancy route. I went for the more laid back look, as it is the first day of the poopiest year, junior year. What I'm wearing: Wonderful Floral Tank, American Eagle Zippered Shorts, Silver Charms Necklace, and Dr. Martens.

My new Dr. Martens came in the mail today! So in <3 with them! :)

This is just a super spunky and kind of sarcastic comfortable outfit to wear on the first day. I should probably start some homework now.
Peace Out,

The Last Day of Summer Break.

Today is officially the last day of summer break...and I still have some unfinished summer homework. This school year does not seem to be getting off to a great start. So this was actually my outfit from Sunday, but I've taken a few minutes from the last precious hours of summer break to write this. Ya'll better appreciate that. heh. :) What I'm wearing: Floral pick-up Dress, Short-sleeved Cardigan, Green Hair-tie, and Silk Scarf.
It's more of a whimsy outfit...that basically sums up my feelings about this summer.

I really love the hem of this dress, it gives the outfit a more playful feel. The scarf was added for a pop of color. Well, now is the end of the days of endless dreaming. Poop school. heh.

My posts may or may not become less frequent...depending on the load of my homework etc. this year.
Ciao for now loverlies.

Her Mirth and Nonsense

Today has been such a tiring day, starting with orchestra boot camp from 9 AM until 5 PM...we did get a 2 hour break though. Technically today was my first day back at school too, so I wanted to look cute but obviously not over-dressed...I mean this is orchestra we're talking about here. ;) So here's what I wore: Striped Crop Top, High Waisted Jean Shorts (vintage), White Original Vans, and vintage Aviators (basketball courtesy of my brother). Also...I only have one picture today because I accidentally deleted all the rest. Hehe. Too tired. -_-

This is just a super causal outfit that I would wear any random day. It's kind of a thing now to wear crop tops and high waisted things together. It's actually one of my favorite things to wear. Crop tops allow for comfort and well...freedom. Hope you've gleaned something from this post.

Relentlessly Unknown.

What does it mean to be relentless? It means to be unbending or unyielding. I wish to be relentless towards whatever obstacle it may be that I face in this upcoming school year. In two weeks, school begins and I enter into that school once again, but this time as a junior. Good luck to me as I step foot in to the unknown! But I can do that looking chic right? In this outfit, I am wearing a Day Dream Tank-Top from Delia's, Satin Floral Shorts, a White Blazer by Jolie, Black Oxfords from Shoe Mint, Heart-shaped Clock Necklace from NET, and White Sunnies.
The blazer I am wearing is very light-weighted and perfect for the summer time as it won't weigh me down or make me sweat excessively. I really love these shorts because the feel so smooth and add a different texture to my ever-growing collection of shorts.

And here's me just being a bit goofy. Anyways, I used a bolder color of lip gloss just to add some color to a more muted outfit.
Much Love,
Jen.

It Was Raining the Day You Called...

I'm going to St. Louis today! :) This year, I will be turning 16, but I'm not going to be having a gigantic birthday party. Instead, I asked my mom to let us go travel somewhere. Since my parents didn't really want to go to far away, we decided on St. Louis. I mean there's college visiting too...so two birds with one stone? Haha, typical Asian parents, ya gotta love 'em. So since I'll be traveling some I opted for comfort. Also, my brother got these new readers from Urban Outfitters that I just love wearing. <3

Wearing: Keys T-Shirt by Make Believe Clothing Co., Tommy Hilfiger Shorts, Oversized Cardigan, Grey Original Vans, 30 HF Beanie, and Oversized Readers from Urban Outfitters.

It's been a pretty grey and rainy day so far, but I hope ya'll will stay bright! :) I'm now off to ST. LOUIS! Whee!

Olympique Fantaisie

Today has been a pretty lazy Saturday...in which I woke up at 5 in the morning and then watched TV until 7...then fell asleep again until 10:30. So when I picked my outfit for the day, I wanted something comfortable yet chic. Also, I wanted to wear my new shirt ;). So this outfit seemed perfect for the rest of the day whether I go on a bike ride or to the mall. It includes a Tribal Print Sleeveless Shirt, Black (reversible) Mesh Shorts, Dome Tassel Dooney&Bourke, and my White Original Vans. I like to think of it as sports chic.

I love how it is so easy to mix comfort with style. It's an easy way to avoid having an uncomfortable weekend. Hope you found something new today!
XOXO,
Jen.

Welcome! + Foray Into Floral

Hallo hallo! Thanks for visiting! :)
Today, my look was half stolen from the ever existent "Closet of Vintage Things." Today's pick includes floral corduroy high-waisted pants, oxfords, a vintage Dooney & Bourke and a plain white tee. I find it wonderfully vintage yet not too ancient esp. because of the casual feel the white tee brings. Hope you enjoy!
Please take a look at some more of my looks at: http://lookbook.nu/janinetang

Here's a shot so you can see the high-waisted nature of these eclectic pants.

And here's another...
Honestly, I actually don't wear much floral, so this truly is my foray into floral. Also, I'm hoping my photography skills can improve quickly. I had to do with a small canon powershot elph 110 hs and a tripod...because nobody was home and I couldn't figure out how to get my other camera on the tripod. Anyways, enjoy the rest of your day!
